The cluster of bright stars known by many names including Pleiades, The Seven Sisters, Messier Object 45 (M45 for short) is a prominent feature in the night sky, visible from from both northern and southern hemispheres.
Throughout history many cultures from around the world have created stories as to how these stars came to be, and what part they played in the world. Today the star cluster is even used by the car company Subaru as a basis for their emblem. You can read much about the Pleiades star cluster at Wikipedia.
From a science perspective the star cluster is a nearby and bright “Open Cluster” which also shows some blue nebulosity when photographed with long exposures. The nebulosity is a reflection nebula, interstellar gas list by the background stars of the Pleiades star cluster.
